1. Currently, according to the Global Temperature Index, the annual global average temperature is around 1.9°F(1°C) higher than the pre-industrial ages. 2. We are building upon the problem. The burning of fossil fuels causes rising temperatures, which also correlates with the release of greenhouse gases. As the use of fossil fuels is increasing around the world, the volume of carbon in the atmosphere is soaring, with over 415 parts per million of CO2 in the atmosphere. 3. 1˚C is already causing devastating impacts across Earth. Global grain yields are declining, unleashing hunger. Over 1 million people living near coasts are forced to evacuate their homes as sea levels rise. Climate change is leaving no room for doubt. 4. HOWEVER, we can fix it. We MUST keep fossil fuels in the ground and make the effort to switch to 100% renewable energy.
